There has been some information, that EA is looking to develop a social networking site based game—so in coming months we won’t be too surprised to find a Facebook version of Mass Effect 3.
Bioware: Focus now on social-networking sites
Bioware has posted an advertisement on their website, seeking ‘new-blood’ to take their games to the social networking sites. This is quite commensurate with the recent news buzzing the mass effect forums, which Bioware is looking to take the game to the next level—maybe we can have a facebook version of Mass Effect 3 in coming months.
So, previously which was being gauged as a mere ‘rumor’, has some footing at-least. With this, EA would certainly like to follow suit the success of previously launched Dragon Age’s social network version. Capitalizing the craze Mass Effect 3 is generating, EA may eventually release the facebook version around the same time it would be launched across platforms in coming March. To tap in the hype, the garnered interest—it could just be the most opportune time.
Mass Effect 3: Facebook calling?
Bioware San Francisco posted the job-vacancy ad under the project description: “social game for gamers”. Though the ad simply looks for applications from competent persons to be producer to lead a project on social gaming—it is almost implied that rather than venturing on a new title; EA would be trying to work on some already popular title. So, frankly speaking—Mass Effect 3 does rank high in this prospect.
Mass Effect 3 is currently the most coveted and popular under-development title of Bioware. With a discrete release date in coming March across PC, Xbox and Mac—it’s almost bound to be a huge hit. So, it’s quite possible that Bioware (read EA) would venture out again on Social Networking sites with Mass Effect titles.
Another reason, that may prompt the decision makers in EA to work on with Mass Effect on Facebook and other Social networking platforms—is the huge number of Mass Effect pages on Facebook. More than seven million pages and tons of ‘likes’ on Mass Effect—is really a good figure to provide a base to work on ‘facebook version’ of mass effect keeping in mind the March 6th release date.
